SYMPHONIE DES FEMMES celebrates women at the top of their field, excelling in what has for many years been a traditionally male dominated industry.

This all female orchestra was born out of a collaboration with Aussie rock icons The Whitlams. Originally conceived by The Whitlams front man Tim Freedman to add a touch of glamour to a luxurious corporate function, the event was such as success that the orchestra joined the band for two more concerts in Sydney’s State theatre later that year.

As Australia’s only all-female full symphony orchestra, SYMPHONIE DES FEMMES creates a captivating on-stage presence and can bring a unique element to any number of contexts.

With high-profile players based throughout the country, SYMPHONIE DES FEMMES can be recreated in just about any part of Australia.

A STRING SOURCE quartet shoots a live recording and film clip with Melbourne singer Maddy Hay and producer Ryan Ritchie. It’s a lovely final gig of the year for STRING SOURCE.

ENSEMBLE URBANE performs its last concert for the year. The programme includes works by Hindson, experimental violinist/vocalist/song-writer Xani Kolac and the world premiere of “The Legend Of Nintendo” – a string quartet by David Paterson, commissioned especially for this concert. The performance finishes with Brahms’ G Major sextet.

Leah provides symphony orchestras to perform with Human Nature for two concerts on the Gold Coast and one at the State Theatre, Sydney. Everyone has a great time. Some of the Brisbane musicians make a weekend of it and stay on the coast and the ladies of PHILHARMONIA AUSTRALIA even manage a beach photo shoot while there. The hilarious Guy Noble conducts the concerts and has the orchestra in stitches throughout the whole experience.

The STRING SIRENS are joined by a trumpet player from PHILHARMONIA AUSTRALIA to perform at the australian premiere of the latest James Bond movie “Skyfall”. Daniel Craig greets the players who are excited to see him and the Bond girls in person. Some of the musicians stay to watch the movie amongst the celebrity guests at Sydney’s State Theatre.

Leah sources solo violinists and solo tenors to accompany Delta Goodrem in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and the Gold Coast for her concert tour, some corporate events and the recording sessions for her latest album.

ENSEMBLE URBANE performs Stravinsky’s The Soldiers Tale complete with dancers, actors and opera singer Lotte Betts-Dean as narrator. The Australian Ballet’s Daniel Gaudiello reads the role of the Soldier and cabaret star Tommy Bradson that of the devil. Contemporary dance artist Fleur Conlon dances the role of the Princess. Fabian Russell conducts this work and the concert opens with a Beethoven string trio accompanied by projections of the photography of Eleanor Butt.
