A 52 piece contingent of PHILHARMONIA AUSTRALIA musician performs 2 concerts with Michael Bolton in the Sydney Opera House. Michael repeatedly sings the orchestra’s praises and the musicians have a great time performing along with him and his band under the baton of Guy Noble.

A 50 piece contingent of PHILHARMONIA AUSTRALIA musicians performs under the title of The Melbourne Pops Orchestra with Olivia Newton-John at Melbourne’s Regent Theatre. The concerts are a great success and Musical Director Rick King takes some lovely shots of the orchestra in action. The musicians have a great time and can’t resist singing along!

February 2012, Sydney – Philharmonia Australia & The Star Wars Phantom Menace 3D Launch

PHILHARMONIA AUSTRALIA performs music from “The Phantom Menace” along with iconic pieces from the original “Star Wars” movies for the Australian launch of the movie’s 3D rerelease. At the George St cinemas in Sydney, under the direction of Nicholas Buc, the orchestra creates an amazing atmosphere which has VIPs dancing down the red carpet to the Cantina Band music.

I can’t thank you enough for the wonderful job you did in pulling together the orchestra for us for the Star Wars Premiere.

It was amazing and you made it all too easy! Nothing was a problem and I am so glad we found you!

The engagements include several charity balls, a Channel 9 special event and the opening of the new Hilton Hotel on the Gold Coast.

A section of STRING SOURCE players tour with the show “Way To Blue”, a tribute to the music of Nick Drake. The tour includes sold-out dates in the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne Recital Centre and the shows are produced by Joe Boyd with Kate St John as musical director. They perform alongside some legendary UK artists including Lisa Hannigan, Krystle Warren, Robyn Hitchcock, Vashti Bunyan, Green Gartside, Scott Matthews, Danny Thompson, Neill MacColl, Zoe Rahman and Martyn Barker and Australian artists Luluc and Shane Nicholson.
