CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES (Melbourne).
“urbane” = suave, elegant, refined, polished – having the savoir-faire regarded as characteristic of social life in a cosmopolitan city….
ENSEMBLE URBANE = Friends and colleagues playing the music that moves us.
ENSEMBLE URBANE is reaching a new audience by taking music out of the concert hall and into urban spaces. It presents high-end classical chamber music in a refreshingly approachable context. The series showcases some of Australia’s most exciting and vibrant talent in a relaxed and intimate setting.
The ENSEMBLE URBANE 2012 series will combine music with other mediums such as visual art, photography and spoken word and will be performed in bars and galleries in and around the Melbourne CBD.
Repertoire will include:
Sextet No. 2 in G major Op. 36 – Brahms
L’histoire du soldat – Stravinsky
Septet in E flat major Op. 20 – Beethoven

Art exhibition -
At the time of the concert, Artboy Gallery will be hosting Melbourne artist Matthew Dunn’s much anticipated solo exhibition, “The Justice Will Be So Fantastic”.
It presents visual interpretations of the music of Crippled Black Phoenix.
“More misery, more questioning the mind, more cynicism, more justice and ultimately more hope.” – Justin Greaves (CBP)
Matthew’s powerful work is bound to both compliment and starkly contrast the music which spans a range of emotions from plaintive to joyful, absurd to sombre, and features moments of sublime beauty and almost overwhelming optimism.
The artwork will be available for purchase on the night.
